Guild Strongholds

Stronghold – a place where a particular cause or belief is strongly defended or upheld.

The Guild is not an institution. It is a community network built of relationships in pursuit of a regenerative bioregional culture. The Guild has been emerging across the Salish Sea and Cascadia for generations. We explore the embodiment of that emergent network.

This website was developed by stewards in the Estuary Cities of Olympia and Tumwater, where the Deschutes River enters Budd Inlet on the Southernmost Salish Sea, and area once tended by the Lushootseed-speaking St’uch’as band, ancestors of the Squaxin Island Tribe.

We are excited to find other emerging strongholds so we can share knowledge and resources.

The Greater Deschutes Estuary Ecosystem, known historically as St’uch’as is now a focus of restoration, and a potential prototype bioregional stronghold.
